COUNSELLING SERVICES IN PERTH
Our Counselling Services in Perth involve a process whereby a skilled, compassionate counsellor offers a non-judgmental confidential environment, where the current impact and possible underlying causes of your presenting issues are explored. Possible solutions to the problems are then explored and steps to implement are practiced.
WHAT IS COUNSELLING ?
Our Counselling in Perth is a traditional form of “talk” therapy where the counsellor discusses with you the particular known issues and behaviours. Counselling can be provided to individuals, couples or families.
Counselling is often conducted in a shorter term context to address a specific issue, or it may take a longer form where you seek guidance on a broader set of issues which are more complex, or which require longer forms of assistance to effect a change.
WHAT’S INVOLVED IN OUR FORM OF COUNSELLING?
In our Perth Counselling practice, specific problems are reviewed and addressed with you in order to bring greater clarity and understanding of the issues and of yourself. The essence of talking is both to process the event and have a cathartic release if needed, and to be witnessed and seen with compassion. Counselling is effective at this level with helping you to process and bring to completion some troubling concern, issue or event, so you can move on with your life.
Neuroscience reveals that you develop neural circuits or associated maps in your thinking which left unchallenged will keep you stuck in the same thought patterns. The intervention of counselling can change the mental associations you typically adopt.
WHAT CANNOT BE TREATED WITH COUNSELLING?
Counselling may uncover deeper trauma that we then seek permission to work with using psychotherapy or trauma release techniques.
Our Counselling in Perth will not be enough for conditions such as Schizophrenia, Narcissism, Borderline Personality Disorder or complex abuse issues. The counselling would be adjunct to either deeper psychotherapy work, or you would need to seek out the services of a qualified psychiatrist to help these conditions.
HOW DOES COUNSELLING DIFFER FROM PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Our Counselling in Perth involves an intervention that can change the thinking and mental associations you typically adopt when stressed, with concurrent changes in your brain neural circuits that link and fire when that thinking occurs.
Our Psychotherapy in Perth builds on counselling to widen the dimension of your experience with us to more fully explore and express your feelings in actual embodied processes to effect deeper changes in your being, promoting a healthy body and mind.
Our clients normally report that our form of psychotherapy process creates a new level of conscious awareness, new unconscious patterns of associated thought, a heightened sense of self-worth and ability to tackle ongoing life issues with new strategies and awareness.
Check out our Psychotherapy in Perth page which describes in more detail our therapy methods used in that approach.
