At the Energetics Institute, we recognise the importance of the personal and relational information you share with us. We understand that this information may be sensitive, and we are fully dedicated to protecting your privacy and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Collection and Use of Contact Information
Recent amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 require health practitioners in private practice to obtain consent from their clients to collect, use and disclose clients’ personal information. The Energetics Institute acts to protect the privacy of Energetics Institute clients in all that we do.
When you complete our online website enquiry form or you contact us via our 1300 number or you engage in therapy sessions with us, we will record your name, phone number and email address. Your e-mail address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it (e.g. booking in for a session.) Your contact details will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without your consent.
The ability to create a safe environment for our clients is predicated on therapy being conducted in a container of total privacy and confidentiality. The Energetics Institute does not keep client session or interview notes on a computer medium at any time due to the ongoing security issues that dog this technology.
Your Energetics Institute therapist will collect information that is necessary to properly advise and treat you. The Energetics Institute utilises a standard interview form which may necessitate the following information being recorded:
- full personal history
- family history
- contact details
This information will normally be collected directly from you. There may be occasions when your practitioner will need to obtain information from other sources, for example:
- your general practitioner or medical specialist
- other health care providers, such as a former psychologist or counsellor, or practitioners treating other family members
- your lawyer
- hospitals or clinics
The records we keep are done manually, and we keep our notes locked away in a secure and isolated away from the consultation area. Our records and notes which are for our professional use are taken either immediately after or during a client session.
You may also view our Client Confidentiality page which has more information.
Disclosures to Other Parties
We won’t make contact with other professionals without prior discussion with you resulting in your verbal consent. In emergency situations it may be necessary for your practitioner to collect personal information from relatives or other sources where it is not possible to obtain your prior express consent.
We don’t pass case history or confidential information from your sessions to third parties. However, there are legal exceptions such as being summoned to a state of federal court of law or required by regulation or compliance to a legalised process.
Website Optimisation
When you look at this website, the Energetics Institute’s service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:
- Your server address
- The pages you accessed and documents downloaded
- The previous site you have visited
- The type of browser you are using.
This information tells us nothing about who you are because it is aggregated with the same information from every other visitor.
This information is used for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the web site (e.g. total number of visitors, least popular pages) and optimising it (e.g. deleting unpopular pages, streamlining for your browser type etc.). This information is also used for promoting the web site, (e.g. if many visitors come from one previous site in particular then we may promote ourselves actively through that web site).
We have taken every possible measure to ensure your Privacy. However, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access to your information will be completely prevented, whether during transmission or after we have received it.
