Biography

Richard, a certified Somatic Psychotherapist, has spent over 20 years guiding many hundreds of clients through their healing and growth journeys with his expertise and compassionate care. As well as being a Somatic Psychotherapist, he is also a Trauma Specialist who works with individuals, couples, families and groups and offers a discreet, supportive counselling, coaching and psychotherapy service from Inglewood, Perth, Western Australia.

Richard is married to Helena Boyd and they have been in a loving and committed relationship together for 27 years and have a lovely teenage daughter together.

In 2006, Richard completed 5 years training with Core Energetics Australia in Somatic Psychotherapy and in 2013, he also completed 2 years training with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in Trauma Psychotherapy. He has invested extensively in not just mastering Bodymind science and emerging Neuroscience insights but has in parallel sought to skill and develop himself into understanding at depth human consciousness and how digital technologies affect humans as we develop and grow from childhood, but also as adults with Personality Disorders, Addictions, Trauma, and family and adult relationship dynamics.

Richard has applied these insights over the last 20 years through one of Western Australia’s prominent practices in a Neuroscience informed, Somatic Psychotherapy practice, where he assists in working with trauma and addictions, as well as Family System dynamics.

Richard also has extensive knowledge of the world’s great traditional religions and brings those frameworks and beliefs into his counselling and psychotherapy work where the client expresses a wish to include that dimension to the work. Richard has undertaken his own realised path of understanding Buddhist traditions and view of reality and brings wisdom and empathy into how he practices as a result.

Richard has enjoyed a dual career as a practicing bodymind psychotherapist and mindset coach, as well as having accomplished CEO, CTO/COO. I.T. Strategist, Executive, and Project Manager roles in the last 30 years. He is recognised as a thought leader in the fields of Somatic Psychotherapy and Conscious Business philosophy, as recognised in winning the Thought Leader for Asia 2014 in the category of Leadership, Innovation and Business Technology.
