At Energetics Institute, we offer professional online counselling tailored to the unique needs of couples across Australia. Our sessions are private, secure, and guided by experienced relationship counsellors who understand the dynamics of modern life and love.
Whether you’re dealing with communication breakdowns, navigating parenting styles, or seeking a deeper connection, online couples therapy provides a flexible, effective way to strengthen your bond, wherever you are.
What Is Online Couples Counselling?
Online couples counselling is professional therapeutic support delivered via video, allowing both partners to join from the comfort of their own home. Using secure video platforms, couples can engage in real-time therapy with a registered counsellor without needing to travel or coordinate complex schedules.
It’s a highly effective form of relationship counselling that brings the same emotional depth, insight, and outcomes as in-person sessions. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Many couples use online therapy to proactively develop healthier habits and build a more solid foundation.
Relationship counselling is effective in addressing common issues such as intimacy, financial concerns, and parenting conflicts, helping couples to navigate these challenges with guidance and support.
Why More Couples Are Choosing Online Therapy
More couples in Australia are now embracing the flexibility of online marriage counselling and relationship therapy. The reasons include:
- Geographic freedom, ideal for long-distance relationships or regional areas
- Easier scheduling for busy professionals and families
- Comfort and privacy from your own home
- Reduced travel time and costs
- Continuous support during travel, illness, or relocation
- The ability to choose from a wider range of qualified therapists without geographical limitations
Since the onset of Covid, telehealth and online counselling have increased exponentially, making therapy more accessible and convenient than ever before. Additionally, online sessions save travel time and can relieve the need for babysitters during appointments.
Practitioners providing online therapy maintain their professional registrations and qualifications, ensuring competent and ethical counselling services.
For many couples, online counselling is not just a substitute—it’s the preferred option.

Therapeutic Approaches in Couples Therapy
Our therapists implement best-practice therapeutic methods that are proven to work. A cornerstone of our approach is the Gottman Method, widely recognized as the gold standard in marriage and relationship counselling. This evidence-based method focuses on strengthening friendship, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning.
We also integrate Emotionally-Focused Therapy and other modalities to help couples deepen their emotional connection and resolve conflicts effectively.
Conflict tends to be especially frequent in the early stages of relationships, and our therapy supports couples in developing healthy conflict management skills—a skill that can be learned and practiced.
Trust is the foundation of any relationship, but when it’s broken, rebuilding it can feel overwhelming. Our counselling provides a safe space to navigate trust issues and foster healing and reconnection.
What Happens During an Online Session?
Each counselling session is facilitated by a qualified couples therapist. Sessions are 60 minutes in length and follow a structured, collaborative format to ensure both partners feel supported.
You can expect:
- A warm, confidential space to explore challenges
- Evidence-based strategies including the Gottman Method and somatic therapy
- A focus on connection, clarity, and mutual understanding
- Techniques to build communication and emotional safety
- Tailored support with action steps for growth
Many couples find that online relationship counselling helps them feel more connected after just a few sessions.
Pre-marriage and Relationship Preparation
Pre-marriage counselling and education is an important step that helps couples build the future they desire by preparing them for the realities of married life. Research shows newlyweds often face challenges in their first year, especially managing conflict.
Conflict is a natural part of every relationship and should be approached with effective management strategies. Poor conflict management is often not an individual’s fault, but it is a skill that can be learned through therapy.
Individual histories can impact relationship dynamics and cause misunderstandings. Therapy helps couples become aware of these patterns and adapt to social norms and changes in relationships, fostering healthier connections.
