How Much Is a Therapist in Australia?

A common question we hear is: how much is a therapist? While prices vary across Australia, at Energetics Institute, we provide a competitive and accessible structure that reflects the experience and training of our counsellors. As we are not registered psychologists or Medicare providers, our work is fully private, which means we do not offer Medicare rebates or psychology-based billing.

    Please Note

As we are psychotherapists and not psychologists, we are not registered to provide Mental Health rebates.
At the Energetics Institute, we are not able to offer Medicare Rebates through Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTP).
At the moment, we also do not offer Private Health Insurance rebates.

Our fees are often equal to or less than the gap fee you would generally pay for psychological therapy after a Medicare rebate.

Fees are payable on the day by cash or EFTPOS.

    Counselling Fees and Session Breakdown

Our counselling fees reflect the level of care, depth of experience, and the unique therapeutic methods we offer. All sessions run for approximately 60 minutes and are conducted in a confidential, supportive environment.

We do not provide services under Mental Health Care Plans and therefore do not offer Medicare rebates. However, our fees are often comparable to gap payments that may be required with bulk-billed psychology services.

    Private Health Insurance and Rebates

Although we do not offer Medicare rebates, some clients may be eligible to claim through private health insurance policies that include counselling in their extras cover.

We recommend contacting your health insurer directly to confirm whether they cover counselling with non-registered psychologists. We will issue invoices that meet most requirements for rebate claims, where applicable.

Please note: rebates from private health and Medicare cannot be combined, and not all funds cover counselling.
